If you're looking for a picturesque coastal walk that combines stunning natural beauty with rich history, look no further than the Sefton Coastal Path. Located in the Sefton borough of Merseyside, England, this scenic trail stretches for approximately 21 miles, offering walkers a chance to explore the diverse landscapes and unique wildlife of the Sefton coastline. The path is well sign posted and easy to follow.

Sections:

The Sefton Coastal Path starts at Crosby Beach, famous for its Antony Gormley art installation "Another Place," which features 100 iron statues spread along the shore. As you begin your walk, you'll be greeted by the sight of these haunting figures, standing tall against the backdrop of the Irish Sea. Take a moment to admire the art and capture some memorable photos before continuing your journey.

As you make your way along the path, you'll encounter a variety of landscapes, from sandy beaches to dunes and salt marshes.

The Sefton coastline is a haven for wildlife, with numerous bird species, including waders and seabirds, making their home in the area. Keep your eyes peeled for the distinctive redshanks, oystercatchers, and curlews as you walk along the shoreline.

One of the highlights of the Sefton Coastal Path is the chance to explore the Formby Nature Reserve. This beautiful reserve is home to one of the largest areas of unspoiled sand dunes in the UK and provides a habitat for rare and endangered species, such as the red squirrel. Take a detour from the main path and venture into the reserve, where you can wander through the dunes, explore the woodland trails, and enjoy panoramic views of the coast.

The Path ends in the town of Southport, which is located in the Sefton borough of Merseyside, England. Southport is a popular seaside resort town known for its beautiful beaches, Victorian pier, and vibrant waterfront area. It offers a range of amenities, including cafes, restaurants, shops, and attractions, making it a great place to conclude your walk along the path.
